i Safely Training

Do you know about the dangers children and young people can face through the internet?
Internet safety for families is a growing concern for parents and education professionals alike. Cases of Cyber bullying and Internet Grooming are affecting families across the U.K. and causing deep-seated public concern. The “Hadrian Project” based at the School of Computing Sciences at Newcastle University together with Microsoft and the Northern Grid for Learning have developed an accredited training course for parents, carers, youth workers, teachers, etc to raise awareness about the virtues of the Internet and the dangers of unsupervised use. The aim of the project is to not only raise awareness of the dangers but also to empower people to be able to help children use the internet safely so they can enjoy all the benefits it has to offer without being put at risk.
The programme will be delivered under the ‘i safely training’ organisation created specifically to deliver the training Topics covered in the training programme include:
In the Durham area the training is being delivered by two retired police superintendents – Brian Dunn and Harry Stephenson. For more information please contact them on 0191 3893051. There is a small cost to providing this training. If your group or organisation would like to host this training CAVOS can support you to access the funding required (01388 811115)
